After receiving the card and using it for a few months, we find out about the “hidden fees” (& other charges) and start calling customer service for canceling the card. Standard Chartered Manhattan credit card is ideal for customers living in metro and tier 1 cities because along with offering reward points in all spends, it offers 5% cashback on grocery spends in the supermarket like Reliance, More, Big Bazaar, and FoodMart.  Although this is awesome, there is a limit of receiving a cashback of Rs 500 per month (and Rs 150 per transaction).

Annual fee of the first year is Rs 499 and renewal fees of Rs 999. However, you can receive a waiver of first-year fees by spending Rs 30,000( in the first year) and Rs 60,000 ( from second year onwards) to receive an exemption from renewal fees.

Citibank Cashback Credit Card is one of the very few cards which offers cash back on every transaction.

The details of cashback are as follows:

  • 5% CashBack on all your utility bill payments made online through Citibank Online Bill Pay.
  • 0.5% on all other spends.

Annual fee of Rs 500 is billed in the first month of card issuance and charged again once every 12 months.

ICICI Instant Platinum Card.

ICICI Instant Platinum card for customers with little or no credit history( no CIBIL score) or those you need to repair their credit scores. The card is issued against fixed deposit in your ICICI saving bank account. By taking this card, you can build you credit history, and we recommend this card for first-time users (like those starting a job, housewife or students ).

SBI Simply Click Credit Card

SimplyClick Credit Card from State Bank of India is the best for customers who spend on online stores like Amazon, Foodpanda, Bookmyshow, Lenskart, etc. because SBI has tied up with these companies to provide 10x ( 10 times ) the reward points. For all other online spends, you receive 5x ( 5 times ) reward.

With low annual fees, this is a good card for customers who are starting to build their credit history.  The card offers 5% cashback on Fuel and Utility bill transactions, however monthly cashback limit of Rs 500 exists. You will receive one reward points for every Rs 100 spent.

American Express Gold Card.

American Express is known across the world for its customer service and standing behind the client in case of frauds or misuse of the card.  Because of this reason, few merchants are even hesitant of accepting Amex cards at their shops. 

American Express gold card is the most popular credit card of the Amex in India. Gold card offers 1000 bonus points every month on making four transactions of Rs.1000(or more). Hence you can get 1000 points just by swiping the card for Rs 4000 per month. Also if you spend Rupees 1.9 lakhs( per year) using this card, then you would automatically receive Indigo Travel vouchers for Rs 7700. If spending hits Rs 4 lakhs, then you would get an additional voucher from Indigo for Rs 11800 and Rs 10000 voucher from Taj group.  So, you can earn easily redeemable vouchers worth Rs.33500 by spending Rupees 4 lakhs (this is a return of over 8%)

HDFC Regalia Credit Card

HDFC Regalia should be the credit card of your choice if you want a card which is high on luxury and offers great travel benefits. Until a few years ago, HDFC Regalia was considered to be a status symbol, however, things changed when HDFC started offering the card to customers who had an ITR of over 12 lakhs.
